Bikers on Parade
The 9th Annual Bikers on Parade has been scheduled for Sunday, November 15, 2009. The 23-mile police-escorted bike ride will begin at Sante Fe College and make its way through the heart of Gainesville before it loops back and ends at the college. The annual Bikers on Parade is the largest Veteran's Day motorcycle parade in the United States, and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in support of veterans, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and rescue personnel.
What is the Purpose of the Bikers on Parade Event?
Bikers on Parade was founded by Ralph and Bonnie Cameron to show support for the victims and first-responders of the September 11th attacks. It was a way for the motorcycle community in and around Gainesville to give their support and show their respect towards the brave men and womrn who served and protected this country on 9/11.
In remembrance of the September 11th attacks, the motorcycle community continues to raise money in support of all military servicemen and women, veterans, law enforcement officials, firefighters, and rescue personnel. The parade aims to honor those individuals who risk their lives and make brave sacrifices to protect America and all of its citizens.
In an effort to give back to the community, all of the funds raised through the event will be donated to the North Central Florida Chapter of the American Red Cross and the local veteran's assistance agencies. Since the parade began in 2001, the event has raised more than $414,000!
